Identifying the problem

Through detailed user feedback and usability testing, we discovered that users frequently struggled to find the templates they needed. The layout was confusing, and the lack of effective filtering and sorting options significantly hindered their ability to navigate the template picker efficiently. The aim was to create an intuitive and efficient template picker that allowed users to easily find and select the templates they needed. Success was defined by improved user satisfaction, reduced time to find templates, and enhanced overall usability.

Outcome

The new design significantly improved user satisfaction and engagement, as evidenced by positive feedback and usability testing results. Users found the interface more intuitive, with the ability to quickly and efficiently locate the templates they needed. This validated our design approach and highlighted the project's success, improving our email creation KPI by providing guidance for the user and limiting frustrating friction points , like the underwhelming initial view of the old template picker (shown below).

Takeaways

We needed to remove a few of the more valuable features for initial launch, some of these required our native AI team to finish current projects and test before we can implement, however we have the documentation to circle back when the tech is ready. Working on this project emphasized the need for thorough user research to uncover and address real pain points. Collaborating closely with the development and product teams was essential for prioritizing user needs and turning them into goals. The experience underscored the importance of clear organization and effective filtering options in creating a user-friendly interface that meets user needs and improves overall experience.
